HOW TO CLEAN YOUR BBQ: 9 EXPERT TIPS

Have you ever wondered if you could do the BBQ cleaning process as easy as BBQing and with as much fun? Yes, it is possible if you know the right tips and methods.

Barbecuing expert LANDMANN has pulled together nine top tips to ensure your BBQ is cleaned properly, giving it a longer life, and ensuring it is ready to use at a moment's notice!

What's more, these tips are quick and easy, meaning you won't be spending hours working away at the end of a BBQ party!

Check out some of our cleaning hacks here:

  1. DON'T WAIT FOR IT TO COOL DOWN!

First things first, you should never attempt to clean a BBQ when it is cool instead strike whilst the irons are hot - literally. Ensure it is safe for you to do so (meaning you aren't going to burn your hands) and wipe away the mess with a damp cloth whilst it is still warm - but not hot enough to burn you.

  1. REPURPOSE THE SUNDAY PAPER

As mentioned above, using water, wet the newspaper and when the BBQ is warm, cover the grill with the newspaper. Now simply close the lid and leave it for an hour to work its magic. Whilst you are tidying the garden or entertaining friends the wet newspaper will steam the grease away making it easy to wipe clean.

  1. CHILL THAT CHARCOAL

Contrary to cleaning the rest of the grill you should wait until the charcoal is completely cool before you throw it away and empty the ash as soon as it is chilled. Then simply wipe clean with a little damp kitchen roll.

  1. GET THE RIGHT TOOLS

You may think that the usual scrubbing brush that you use on your pots and pans will do the job, but that won't get all the remnants of your BBQ off your grill. Instead, invest in a quality grill cleaning brush that will leave your BBQ gleaming. This is available on the LANDMANN website, use with hot soapy water for a pristine BBQ and easy cleaning.

  1. IT'S ALL ABOUT THE SPRAY

Making sure you use a good cleaning spray is essential when cleaning the BBQ properly. If you are struggling to find a brand you like or don't want to spend too much money, a 50/50 water and white vinegar mix will do the trick and have your grill gleaming.

  1. REMOVE THE STUBBORN STUCK-ON MESS

For those stuck-on grease and stubborn grime stains that you just can't seem to shift with your normal BBQ cleaning routine try this handy solution. Simply mix the bicarbonate of soda with a little water and put it on stubborn marks. Then get scrubbing with a good cleaning brush.

  1. DON'T FORGET THE OUTSIDE

Whilst the grill itself is likely going to take up all your attention whilst cleaning your BBQ, don't forget to wipe down the outside of the BBQ. Simply use hot soapy water to wipe clean and then buff with a dry-cleaning cloth to keep it mark free.

  1. GET RID OF THE RUST

A common problem is to open your BBQ after the winter to discover rust on your grill. Simply soak the grill in a mixture of salt and vinegar overnight and then wipe clean. Your grill will be looking as good as new in no time!

  1. MAKE SURE YOU NEVER FORGET

We get it! At the end of some serious grilling, you want to sit down and enjoy your food and company - not clean the BBQ! But it is essential you give it a good scrub after every use. This helps your grill last longer and means you can always enjoy tasty BBQ food. It is also essential to use a BBQ cover to keep it protected against the elements and preventing rust.

So, there you have it, nine tips to make sure your BBQ is always clean and ready to be fired up for use!
